Valentines Day

Personally, I've never been a huge fan of all the heart shaped candies and sappy poems that make up this classic holiday. But it comes every year so we all better get ready. If you are single this year for Valentines day, don't fret. It's probably because nobody in your high school has realized what a catch you really are, which means they don't deserve you anyways! Don't get depressed if nobody brings you a bouquet of roses, you still have plenty of years to find the romance you're looking for in life, and it probably won't be anybody you meet in high school. If you do have a sweetheart this year, however, think of something original. You want your lover to always remember how much effort you put in to the gift rather than just how big or expensive it was. Valentines Day can also be an opportunity to find out just how serious your relationship is. Definitely make sure you're on the same page before you rush out and buy some promise rings. Finally, if your crushing hard on somebody in your school, Valentines Day is a great opportunity to make your feelings known. Most high schools do some sort a "candy-gram" thing where you can send a note or flower to your crush anonymously or not. If you try this and tell your crush how you feel about them, you might just find that your feelings are returned. If they're not, the world won't end. It's only high school anyways.

Let it out

High school is extremely frustrating. If you're like me, then you know how every little thing can become a huge annoyance. It's important to find an outlet you can use to blow off steam. Sports are one example of an outlet for frustration, but there are countless more. Finding any hobby or task that distracts you from the stress in your life is key to maintaining your sanity. Also talking about things that are frustrating can help you move on and get stuff done. A high school friend of mine has created a blog to help her do just that. Check out how she deals with the things that bother her at hating101.blogspot.com .

How far is too far?

The key to success is being comfortable with who you are and staying true to that. I know that sounds super cliché, but if you feel like you have to impress every person you meet in your school, you are trying too hard. Girls, you don't have to wear 20 lbs of makeup to try an stand out. You don't have to wear high heels and mini shirts everyday of the week to make people notice you. You probably will get noticed, but not in the way you want. Keep it real, ladies. Get comfy once in a while. Wear sweatpants and don't worry about how your hair looks for a day. I promise your peers will not instantly hate you for it. They might even appreciate you more for just acting like a normal, stressed out student.
